Pink Day!

Pink day!

We kicked off the summer theme days on June 19th with Pink Day! We decided that throughout the summer we should have random color theme days where products of that color will be on sale, yay! So for our first, we of course picked pink (mainly because the boss man was out of town so us girls thought we should go for it while there was no opposition).

The three of us dressed in pink:

and decorated the stand in pink streamers and balloons, how lovely!

Hope you can make it to the next theme day! Thanks for stopping by :)

Asparagus Recipe two!

Asparagus for breakfast??Absolutely!

The other morning we used asparagus in our breakfast burritos and it was FABULOUS!

Ingredients:
  • Asparagus
  • Eggs (milk if you like that in your scrambled eggs)
  • Olive Oil
  • Tortillas
  • Seasoning
  • Salsa

Directions:
  1. Cut asparagus into bite size piece and fry a little in olive oil
  2. Scramble eggs, add asparagus to frying pan and add seasoning
  3. Put in tortillas, add salsa and enjoy!

This is a very simple breakfast recipe that helps you get your folic acid in while being delicious at the same time!  Enjoy!!

Let us know if you make this recipe or another one OR if you have your own recipe to share with us!

Reminiscing on theme days of past (Hawaiian Days)

Last year we started having theme days at the Fruit Stand.  What started out as a random idea became some awesomely fun days at the stand! These were days we: 1) decided upon a theme 2) got awesome outfits to match 3) had some sweet deals on various items in the fruit stand.

Our first theme day was Hawaiian day. The lovely fruit stand employees dressed in hula skirts and some even in coconut bras! While feeling silly, we embraced it with leis, decorations, and Hawaiian music on repeat.  We also had our Hawaiian Fruit Chocolates and other tropical candied fruits on sale, as well as Pina Colada candy sticks and more.  Aloha!

Check out our pictures:

All of our tropical goodies on sale!
Sorting cherries in our hula skirts!
Even the checkout counter got festive!
Hannah, Carissa, and Dani in their Hawaiian gear!
Gary, the owner, and his wife Sandra participated as well!

Watch out for a flashback of Pirate Day coming soon!

Pasta Milan

Since it is asparagus season, I thought our first recipe to share could be this delicious pasta featuring asparagus (that I've actually made before!)

The name of the pasta is Pasta Milan, I discovered it on the All Recipes website. Confession: I am obsessed with that website and have tons of recipes saved in my recipe box. It's amazing!

The recipe states a prep time of 20 minutes, cook time of 15, making it a side dish that is ready in 35 minutes.

The ingredients:
8 ounces penne pasta
4 ounces frozen green peas
4 ounces asparagus tips
4 ounces Gorgonzola cheese
1/3 cup heavy whipping cream
salt and pepper to taste

Side note: I actually didn’t include the peas since I had everything else already, but would suggest it. I think it would have made a good addition.

Directions
1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add pasta, peas and asparagus to boiling water. Cook for 5 minutes or until pasta is al dente. Drain.
2. Meanwhile, crumble cheese with the cream and season with salt and pepper to taste.
3. In large bowl, toss pasta and vegetables with cheese mixture, stirring until the cheese has melted and the pasta is well coated with the sauce. Serve immediately.

See? Easy-peasy. I thought it was a pretty good pasta, though I realized I don’t like Gorgonzola cheese as much as I thought, so next time I might try out a different cheese :)

Enjoy! If you make this dish, let us know! We’d love to hear how you liked it!
